In close distance to Amaliada (1,5km) lies the byzantine Fragavila Monastery which currently operates at a boarding house for Elis archbishopric. The monastery’s katholikon, a middle byzantine church, is one of the most significant in Elis. It is a tetrastyle dome transverse-vaulted church. Its inner decoration is contemporary to the monument’s construction while the newer decorations date back to the 17th century.
The location along with the dense vegetation surrounding the monastery gives the landscape its unique color.
