The Museum of Ancient Greek Musical Instruments and Toys and Games in Katakolo operates under the auspices of the Municipality of Pyrgos. It hosts 42 fully operational ancient Greek musical instruments. Their manufacturing was a result of a scientific research and study on the ancient Greek literature.

Visitors have the chance for a close look at the instruments and learn about ancient Greek music. Among the exhibits are: the lyra of Hermes, the first stringed instrument, the Homeric phorminx, Pan’s syrinx and Orpheus’ guitar. The Museum of Ancient Greek Technology operates in the same region. Here, visitors can admire two hundred models of ancient Greek world devices and discover the ancient technology through explanatory diagrams and detailed audiovisual material.
